October - London Borough Lights Switch on
Fired from the roof of the Town Hall, this five minute display signals the turning on of the lights in this multi-cultural borough to celebrate not only Diwali, but also Christmas, Eid and Chinese New Year. The lights go on in October and are not turned off until mid February! As with any city centre location careful liaison with police, highways and the safety units is required. Parking is suspended for the day and road closures are put in place to ensure an adequate fallout zone.
